Letter Sound "Rr"

  TOPIC : Letter Sound /Rr/ OBJECTIVES: 1. For students to readily identify letter "r"  and associate same with the sound. 2. Tell the location (i.e. beginning, middle, end) of the /r/ sound in a number of one syllable or two syllable words 3. Learn and practise mouth formations for different sounds of the alphabet (r) 4. Learn and use basic sight words 5. Blend phonemes to form new words CONTENT : The letter is a letter in the alphabet. It is a consonant. These are some sight words with initial letter "r" : round ,rabbit, rain , ring. These are some sight words with final 'r' : her, over, chair, car, door, letter, paper ENGAGE: Students will listen to the song in the video clip below, then recall some of the events that took place in the song. Letter Sound "Hh"

  TOPIC : Letter Sound "Hh" OBJECTIVES: 1. Identify sight words beginning with letter "h". 2. Associate the letter "h' with the sound. 3. Form the letter 'Hh" legibly in their books (upper, lower case) 4. Readily identify CVC words with initial sound /h/ 5. Substitute vowels to form new words with initial sound /h/ CONTENT : The letter "Hh" is the eight letter of the alphabet. It is a consonant.   TOPIC : Letter "Ee" Short sound OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn and practise mouth formation for different sounds of the alphabet 2. Identify letter "e" and associate with sound  3. Identify words with letter sound "e". 4. Identify position of sound (initial, ending) CONTENT : The letter "Ee" is the fifth letter of the alphabet. It is a special letter. It is the second vowel. It has a long sound and a short sound. It is an unusual letter because it starts in the middle. Examine the common "e" below. Letters "C" and "K"

  TOPIC : Letters "C" and "K", sound /CK/ OBJECTIVES: 1. For students to readily identify letters "c" and 'k' and associate same with the sound. 2. Tell the location (i.e. beginning, middle, end) of the "ck" sound in a number of one syllable or two syllable words 3. Learn and practise mouth formations for different sounds of the alphabet (ck) 4. Learn and use basic sight words 5. Blend phonemes to form new words CONTENT : Letters "C" and "K" are letters of the alphabet. They are both consonants. The two letters make the same sound. When they go together in a word, the sound is made just once. Eg, l/u/ck.   TOPIC :  Letter "Nn" OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn and practise mouth formation for different sounds of the alphabet ("n") 2. Blend phonemes to form words 3. Substitute consonant sounds in words with similar rhymes to derive new words  4. Learn and use basic sight words CONTENT : Letter "Nn" is a letter of the alphabet. It is a consonant. ENGAGE: Students will review letter sounds dealt with so far. /s/, /a/, /t/, /i/, /p/ Students will orally complete the matching game below orally. Students will be asked to call the words again with the help of the teacher. They will be asked to stress the initial sound heard as the words are called.  Identify the letter that makes the sound.   TOPIC : Letter "P p" OBJECTIVES: 1. For students to readily identify letter "P" and associate it with its sound. 2. Tell the location (i.e. beginning, middle, end) of the "P" sound in a number of one syllable words 3. Learn and practise mouth formations for different sounds of the alphabet (P) 4. Learn and use basic sight words 5. Blend phonemes to form new words CONTENT : The letter 'P p" is  a letter of the alphabet. It is a consonant.  ENGAGE: Revise letter sounds done so far, /s/, /a/, /t/, /i/ students will be asked to look at the pictures below and name them. As they are called, teacher will write down the one that begin with letter "p" on the chalkboard. Students will then be asked to called the ones on the boards again..   TOPIC : Letter "I i" OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn and practise mouth formation for different sounds of the alphabet ("i") 2. Blend phonemes to form words 3. Substitute consonant sounds in words with similar rhymes to derive new words  4. Learn and use basic sight words CONTENT : The letter "I i" is a letter in the alphabet. It is another of the special letters. It is the third of the five vowels. It has a long sound and a short sound. ENGAGE: Teacher will revise  sounds learnt in previous lessons. (/s/, /a/ and /t/).   TOPIC : Letter Sound "Tt"  OBJECTIVES: 1. Learn and practise mouth formation for different sounds of the alphabet 2. Identify letter "t" and associate with sound  3. Identify words with letter sound "t". 4. Identify position of sound (initial, ending) CONTENT : The letter "T" is a letter in the alphabet. It is a consonant.  ENGAGE: Look at all the pictures as teacher points at them. Name them orally. Students will be told to tell what they noticed about the words as they are called again. Teacher will write the words on the board and have students repeating them, while stressing the initial sound. (Expected answer- T sound heard) They will make the sound again, paying attention to lip formation. Tell which letter of the alphabet makes that sound.
